Pounamu Kōuma - Raukaraka

A beautiful kōuma pounamu taonga, recognised for its soft cloudy tones and smooth flowing character. Traditionally admired for its calming and balanced presence, kōuma pounamu represents harmony, clarity, and connection. Each piece carries its own natural markings and unique mauri, making it a meaningful taonga that reflects the beauty and spirit of Aotearoa.

Raukaraka pounamu is often associated with warmth, growth, vitality, and connection to nature. Its golden-green colouring resembles the leaves of the karaka tree, which is where the name “raukaraka” comes from — rau meaning leaf.
